It is uncommon to find Persian antique carpets with overall patterns and soft colors in very large sizes. This rare piece has a mellow terracotta field with various palmettes and thick and thin vines organized around three vertical axis. Little flowers and leaves grow everywhere. The effect is of a swirling bouncing bouquet. Although the pattern has sources reaching back to the 17th century this interpretation is wholly modern. The border is unusual I that it eschews the standard palmettes for small square ivory rosettes and side viewed posies. The light brown of the border compliments the field perfectly.
Vacuum your rug frequently and use a vacuum which uses suction and does not have bristles. If possible, set vacuum to low power setting and vacuum the rug up and down and do not use a back-and-forth motion.
If possible, rotate the rug every few years to allow foot traffic to be spread evenly and shade the rug from direct sunlight to avoid fading in areas.
A rug pad is recommended on all surfaces to prevent slipping and stop marking if on floors with grooves or lines. Professional cleaning is recommended every two or three years.
